THESE NOTES WERE WRITTEN AT THE END OF THE SECOND DAY OF OUR RESIDENTIAL VISIT TO BIRMINGHAM. WE HAD A FANTASTIC TIME AND CAME BACK MORE GROWN UP, MORE AWARE AND EXCITED ABOUT THE MANY THINGS IN THE BIGGER WORLD WE LIVE IN AND WERE INTRODUCED TO.
The Children of class 3 have been the most amazing ambassadors for Docking School and Norfolk. They have remembered their manners and been very attentive to anyone they have met. They have tried new things, asked good questions and listened well to the answers. The staff have been very proud of each of them.
The quote of the trip has to have been ...
"Mrs Williams, I don't like it here... I LOVE IT!"
That came from a child who had been unsure about coming on the trip! I think it could be the turning point for them in self-confidence that could make a life-changing difference.
Others have noticed differences between Docking and Birmingham City but they have also seen similariites.
They have all made new friends and we have a waiting list for children from Colebourne who want to come and visit us in the summer. At the party last night, we met a brother of a year 6 who visited us 3 years ago and he still remembered it like it was only yesterday with very fond memories. We don't have to question whether it is a valuable trip when we hear things like that.
Thank you to all the parents who have supported this residential trip and who have trusted us to take care of their children. Each family should celebrate their child's bravery, curiosity, good manners, concentration and sense of humour. We have learnt a lot, laughed a lot and enjoyed the company of each other- we will be a stronger year group for the experience.
We are looking forward to a little bit of chocolate tomorrow [!] and sharing all the stories and memories with our families tomorrow.
Sleep well, we will!!
Mrs Williams and a very happy team!
p.s. Thanks to Kieron Whittaker for some of his photos which have been uploaded on to this site! He has a good eye for capturing some very happy friends of his!
Welcome to
Docking C of E Primary School & Early Years Foundation Unit
Work together, Learn together and Grow together!
About us
Welcome to our small, traditional village school with a strong family feel, situated in the village of Docking, King’s Lynn, in West Norfolk. We are pleased to accept children aged between four and eleven into the main school and we have an Early Years Foundation Unit on site that welcomes children aged between two and five.
We are situated opposite St Mary’s Church in Docking in the heart of the village and feel strongly that we are a big part of a very active community. We welcome the involvement of the local community members, inviting them in to work and play with the children and taking the children out into their local community.
Parents and children like the caring and friendly atmosphere amongst the staff and pupils at the school. Every person is valued at Docking and with our strong family feel we “Work together, Learn together and Grow together” to ensure we value and promote the pursuit of lifelong learning, within a culture based on care, support and celebration of achievement for everyone.
